Can I Test Out of College Courses?

AskCT - Simplifying College Transfer

You may have heard of college level tests and exams that are offered as an alternative to sitting in class about subjects you already know or could study independently. There are several national tests that you may have previously taken and could still take, if you feel you know the subject matter. Check out the AP, CLEP, DSST and Excelsior course examinations for more information. If you are an International Student, check out the IB.

If you have taken any of these examinations before, compile a list of the tests and scores in your Student Passport. Request a transcript report from the CollegeBoard, Dantes and Excelsior for a paper copy to show admissions counselors or academic advisors when you talk with them about how your examination credits will count toward degree program requirements.

You can test out of courses and coursework. For further reading on testing out of courses, please review to the related articles below.
