3 credits This course will provide students with the techniques for analyzing the recent innovations in the Capital Markets along with the proven theories and foundations of Corporate Finance. Corporate sources and uses of funds are extensively examined with special consideration of the most economical means of financing Capital Formation and the financial techniques of selecting assets. Particular attention is given to Capital Structure, Cost of Capital, Management of Cash, Receivables and Inventories; selection of Sources of Funds and Dividend Policy. PREREQUISITE: FA-302

3 credits This course will provide students with an understanding of the financial decisions which continuously confront managers and the basic financial tools which are available for solving financial problems. This course emphasizes financial analysis of equity financing, short-term and long-term debt financing; financial analysis of the firm's current and future financial conditions. Efficient management of the firm's assets is examined. The theory pertaining to capital budgeting, valuation of assets, capital structure, and timely financial decisions is introduced. 3 credits This course will provide the student with methodologies for general analysis of various types of securities, valuation tests for common stocks and bonds, investment management, the security markets, and money markets. Various practices and instruments used for investment in financial markets will be introduced. The basic principles of investing in capital markets will be set forth. The student will learn how to evaluate stocks based on the price-earnings ratio, income expected to accrue from holding them, market and overall economic conditions and on the analysis of the company. Topics explored include evaluation of investment performance, the impact of psychology on security price fluctuations; economic forces affecting security price movements; financial forces affecting security price movements; the role of sources of longterm financing; and potential merger opportunities to enhance capital structure. 3 credits This course focuses on the securities market, analysis of the various types of securities, examination of theories employed in the valuation of stocks and bonds from the investor's vantage point; investment-risk analysis; evaluation of investment performance, discussions of options, hedging, arbitrage strategies and pricing, and speculation. Students are introduced to evolving techniques in investments and current applications in the real world. Topics explored include portfolio selection; computers are used involving technological globalization. Students do independent research, write papers, and make oral presentations. Since investors rarely place their entire wealth into a single asset or investment, this course teaches the construction of a portfolio or group of investments and extends the analysis of risk and return in that context. Topics include individual securities, industry sectors, portfolio theory, management and performance analysis, and the economy relative to the merits of investing. 3 credits This course explores the international financial decisions of businesses which have foreign subsidiaries, foreign affiliates, and multinational busi nesses. The advantages and risks relative to foreign exchange transactions are examined. Other topics include reasons for foreign operations and investments, problems of multinational businesses, influence of devaluation of currencies, inflation and the affects of the value of the U.S. dollar against foreign currencies, international banking operations, the gold standard and the collapse of the gold standard, and government methods to encourage exports. 3 credits This is a fascinating course dealing with business combinations. A little history and many new terms will be introduced to help the student get a perspective of the role of business combinations in our current business climate. The terms statutory merger, stock acquisition, and statutory consolidation are differentiated. The historical perspective includes horizontal integration, vertical integration, and merger mania. The course considers why and how firms merge, the effects on capital structure, stock prices and market share. Topics include friendly mergers, unfriendly (hostile) mergers, tender offer, poison pill, greenmail, white knight, pac-man defense, selling the crown jewels, and leveraged buyout. PREREQUISITES: FA-305, FA-308 and AC-330

3 credits This introductory course emphasizes the basic skills of reading, writing, and speaking French as well as translating text from French to English. Students will demonstrate their language skills by preparing brief compositions and reading appropriate texts.
