The student will learn the tasks and functions required of an Oracle Database Administrator. The student will learn database architecture, create and start up a database, create and purge users, manage data, expand the size of a database, implement security and data integrity measures. The student will learn the tasks and functions required of an Oracle Database Administrator. The student will learn database security, implement a database backup and recovery procedure, and troubleshooting the Oracle database. This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of the UNIX filing system design. The major components of the UNIX Operating System will be described. The student will learn how to create logical partitions on a UNIX hard disk as well as how to create and diagram a UNIX filing system. The student will locate and describe the purpose of all superblock fields and will use the FSDB (Filing System DeBug) utility for superblock analysis in addition to inodes and data clusters. This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of the UNIX Kernel. Hands-on and classroom activities will stress the design and usage of all the Kernel system components. The student will learn the purpose of the process subsystem Kernel structures and tables, the file I/O subsystem structures and tables, the device driver subsystem structures and tables, and memory management subsystem structures and tables. The student will use the CRASH utility to display each table and structure. Lecture ( 45.00) Prerequisites: CIS-181

This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of SHELL programming using KORN Shell. The student will create shell scripts in a UNIX environment to perform administrative tasks. This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of TCP/IP communications protocol. The student will be introduced to the concepts of OSI layers, TCP/IP protocol, local LAN connection, Internet addressing, gateways, bridges, routers, domains, and NFS/PCNFS. The student will become familiar with many communication commands. The student will learn the installation of TCP/IP on the UNIX system, TCP/IP daemons, TCP/IP on PC's running DOS, and the establishment of connections between UNIX hosts and PC's. This course is designed to give the student knowledge of the design and implementation of administrative files, options and procedures in an environment consisting of Linux/UNIX servers and workstations. Classroom lectures and exercise demonstration will be performed onLinux/UNIX servers stressing the major concepts. This course focuses on self-assessment, setting short-term and long-term goals, using college resources, and developing techniques for surviving in college.
