This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of the UNIX filing system design. The major components of the UNIX Operating System will be described. The student will learn how to create logical partitions on a UNIX hard disk as well as how to create and diagram a UNIX filing system. The student will locate and describe the purpose of all superblock fields and will use the FSDB (Filing System DeBug) utility for superblock analysis in addition to inodes and data clusters. Inodes for directory, files, hard links, soft links, and special files will be located, described, and modified. Lecture ( 45.00) Prerequisites: CIS-181
