Scenic Art 2 is an advanced course for those who have successfully completed Scenic Art 1, or who demonstrate an advanced ability based on portfolio review, and who wish to expand their scenic skills and master the techniques of specifically applied scenic crafts. Students will move from painting in two dimensions, to painting in the style of 3D, and then to the actual crafting, building and painting of 3D scenery and props.

Scenic Art 3 is an advanced course for those who have successfully completed Scenic Art 1 or Scenic Art 2, and who demonstrate a highly advanced understanding of artistic dialogue and creative process. Students will be assigned individual projects imitating historical styles of painting and ornament to be employed for theatrical purposes, including Impressionism, drawings of Old Masters, decorative paintings from Pompeii, Medieval woodcuts and illuminated manuscripts, and Asian painted screens.

This class explores the crafts of stage design and scenic art for the entertainment industry. Through class lectures, demonstrations and homework students will learn fundamental techniques for each area. The Stage design component will introduce students to design development, presentation, and model craft, while the scenic art component will focus on the introductory skills necessary to transition from paint elevation to scenery.

In this class, the student will learn how to create and edit professional 2D drawings through the use of AutoCAD software. Students will immediately apply what they have learned from brief theory presentations in hands-on exercises using supplied drawing files. The focus of the course will be upon theatrical uses of the software across all entertainment design disciplines.

More and more AutoCAD users are venturing out of their traditional and familiar two-dimensional world to explore the possibilities of 3D space. Thanks to many software enhancements in this area, 3D is an increasingly useful and widespread tool. However, the leap into three dimensions requires some changes in thinking and drawing habits. This AutoCAD 3D Drawing and Modeling class introduces users who are proficient with AutoCAD's 2D commands to the concepts and methods of 3D modeling. The course gives a thorough grounding in 3D fundamentals and explores the main features of AutoCAD's advanced 3D workspace. This is an advanced class for AutoCAD users.

In the first of four semesters of study, the wig and makeup student is provided with the opportunity to gain and develop skills in ventilating while using the materials, tools and fundamental techniques central in creating realistic facial hair. Through instruction and observation the student will identify and reproduce a variety of facial hair including beards, mustaches, sideburns and mutton chops and eyebrows. The student will expand their knowledge by modifying the length and shape of the facial hair through cutting, curling and styling.

Through this course of study the student will expand his/her fundamental ventilating skills into adding natural hairline fronts onto pre-existing wigs. The student will assess and differentiate the growth pattern of natural human hairlines and demonstrate the ability to reproduce a natural growth pattern onto a pre-existing wig. The students will recognize the importance of hair color and combination of colors necessary for a realistic wig front. In addition, the student will be given the opportunity to develop his/her skills in wig setting and beginning styling using the appropriate tools.

This course of study will provide students the opportunity to apply his/her ventilating skills to both realized productions and advanced class work. The student will extend his/her wig making techniques to include a full wig foundation for a hand tied/wefted wig . The student will broaden his/her ability to recognize hair types textures and colors, as well as growth patterns of hair on a human head. In addition the student will continue to build on their wig setting and styling techniques, as well as experiment with unusual methods or materials to create or re-create a hairstyle.

An introduction to the principles and techniques of stage lighting design for drama, opera, and musical theatre productions at the undergraduate level. Emphasis on developing a design concept for a show, and on mastering basic design skills, including the choice of lighting angles and equipment, layout of area lighting, and selection of color for a show. Theoretical light plots augmented by student lab work and design assignments for workshop and black box productions.
