Summer Semester. Lect. 2. 2 credits. This course introduces students to concepts basic to promoting adaptation in childbearing families. Emphasizes human development from conception through the neonatal period. Includes content related to family planning sexual behavior, and family dynamics. Prerequisites: NURS 0302, NURS 0306, NURS 306L, NURS 0314. NURS 308L. PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE III. Summer Semester. Lab 6. 2 credits. This course is a co-requisite for NURS 0308 and includes content from NURS 0308 and focus on clinical skills which are basic to promoting adaptation in childbearing families. Emphasizes the application of nursing principles and psychomotor skills in promoting adaptation in childbearing families; antepartal, intrapartum, post-partum, family planning, sexual behavior and family dynamics are included. Prerequisites: NURS 0302, NURS 0306, NURS 306L, NURS 0314.

1st Semester. Lect. 3. 3 credits. This course introduces students to concepts and skills basic to identification of adaptive responses through the use of therapeutic communication and physical assessment skills and techniques. The student will examine development characteristics and expected assessment findings of clients throughout the life span. Prerequisites: Successful completion of all pre-professional courses and admission to the Professional Phase of Nursing.

1st Semester. Lect. 3. 3 credits. This course focuses on biological processes which disrupt the normal physiological adaptive process. These altered physiological concepts form a basis for the utilization of scientific principles in the application of the nursing process. This course reviews the effects of altered physiology on component body systems, their ineffective responses and the ultimate effect on the total organism. The student is assisted in identifying the nurse's role in prevention and treatment through the manipulation of the environment as part of concept of cause and effect. Prerequisites: Successful completion of all pre-professional courses and admission to the Professional Phase of Nursing.

HEALTH ALTERATIONS. 1st Semester. Lect. 2. 2 credits. This course focuses on the nurse's role in modifying ineffective behaviors in clients experiencing threats to psycholosocial integrity. Prerequisites: NURS 0303, NURS 308, NURS 308L.

1st Semester. Lect. 4 4 credits. This course expands student's knowledge of the nurse's role in promoting client adaptation by focusing on clients experiencing actual or potential life-threatening health alterations.Prerequisites: NURS 0303, NURS 308, NURS 308L.

1st Semester. Lect. 3. 2 credits. This course is a basic introduction to the nursing research process. The appropriate nursing research designs and the accompanying threats to validity, sampling, methodology, instrumentation and techniques for establishing reliability and validity are highlighted. Descriptive statistics as well as the normal curve, frequency distributions, z scores and a specified number of inferential techniques for data analysis are included. Prerequisite: NURS 0303, NUR 0306, NUR 306L, NURS 308, NURS 308L, NURS 0310, NURS 0311, NUR 0314.

2nd Semester. Lect. 3. 3 credits. This course emphasizes the interrelationship between organizational factors (goals, structure, technology) and psychosocial factors (individuals and groups in interaction) and their integration around various hospital activities that determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the nurse's performance. The course addresses five basic areas of interest: Organizational Theory and Structure (emphasizing the hospital as a special bureaucracy), Organizational Roles: Small Groups (basic issues and processes), Leadership and Management skills, and Organizational Change. Prerequisites: NURS 0404, NURS 404L, NURS 0405, NURS 405L, NURS 0406.

2nd Semester. 10 Credits. This course provides students with the opportunity to synthesize concepts and skills in selected clinical setting. Leadership roles are emphasized through structured clinical learning experiences. Learning is facilitated through a selected clinical role model serving as a preceptor to the student. Prerequisites: NURS 0404, NURS 404L, NURS 0405, NURS 405L, NURS 0406.

2nd Semester. Lect. 2. 2 credits. This course focus on synthesis of theories, concepts and practices within the curriculum. Emphasis is placed on the assessment of student's ability to solve problems through critical analyses. Prerequisites: NURS 0404, NURS 404L, NURS 0405, NURS 405L, NURS 0406.
