3 Credits This course will provide the student with the technical knowledge necessary to interpret residential construction blueprints. Emphasis will be placed on basic drawing practices, use of instruments, orthographic projection, reading scales, architectural & electrical symbols, floor plans, sections, dimensions, pictorial views and blueprint reading.

3 Credits This technical drawing course will present the student with skills associated with the principles of reading and interpreting engineering and manufacturing prints. Topics covered include reproduction/ control of prints, orthographic and pictorial representation, use of scales, line identification, U.S. and S.I. (metric) dimensioning, tolerancing, thread notes and specifications, sectional views, auxiliary views, precision measuring instruments, and trade symbols/diagrams.

4 Credits This course is designed to teach the student the skills necessary for success as a laboratory technician. Techniques will include nucleic acid and protein isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, chromatography and microscopy. Mathematical, communication and organizational skills will be emphasized. Students will also be introduced to laboratory management practices. By the end of the semester, students must demonstrate a set of laboratory competencies to pass this course. Prerequisite: BIO101 and MAT117.

3 Credits This course introduces the basic principles and techniques for propagating plants by both sexual and asexual means, including seeds, cuttings, bulbs, budding, and tissue culture. The hormonal and physiological factors affecting rooting, seed dormancy, grafting, budding, and layering are emphasized. Course involves extensive lab work with regional field trips. Prerequisite: BIO102 or permission of instructor.

Topics will include handling and restraint; housing requirements and maintenance; disease prevention and treatment; common laboratory techniques; regulatory agencies and ethical issues. 3 Credits This course is an introduction to the basic principles of animal nutrition. Topics will include nutrients, digestion, absorption and utilization of nutrients, and consequences of a deficiency, imbalance or excess in the diet. Prerequisite: BIO102 or permission of instructor.

Topics examined will be personal selling techniques starting with the selling cycle from prospecting through closing the sale and the principles of advertising dealing with media selection, copy layout, and application to various types of campaigns.
