Indian food is very diverse and has been influenced over the decades by many conquests including Mongolian, Persian, Greek, Chinese and British. Explore the history of Indian cuisine, various culinary techniques including: Bhunao (curry), Dhuanaar (Smoke- Seasoning), Do-Piaza (cooking with onions), and Dum (steaming). Recipes will include Chicken Tandoori, Mango Shakes, Biryani (rice dishes), chutnies and Raita (yoghurt mix). Explore the various spices, fresh herbs, and grains used in Indian cuisine. Learn simple ways to create healthy and delicious lunchbox treats for the entire family including: Thai noodle salad with shrimp, whole wheat pitas with roasted vegetables and yogurt dip, grilled chicken salad with honey yogurt dressing. Make lunch more fun with variations on bean dips adding feta and roasted pepper, or black bean with cilantro and garlic. Try healthy and affordable alternatives to processed snack foods.
