Do you love to cook? Would you like to earn money doing what you love, making these foods at home? With minimal start-up money anyone can turn their kitchen into a lucrative business. Whether you're interested in a part-time or full-time business, this course will guide you step-by-step through the entire process. You will learn how to price, label, and package products; learn how to find customers and keep records; and you'll begin the process to obtain the necessary legal permits. In the event you are unable to operate your business from home, alternatives will be discussed.

Learn to identify customer behavior properly so that you can employ the appropriate problem techniques to manage the behavior and "spin up" the customer's receptivity. Through the use of ease studies and role play, we will practive managing customer behavior. 6 sessions.

Learn ecological design principles through field work. History of patterns of land use, food production, resource management and US economy. How is our well being interwoven with the well being of our ecosystems? Discussions of diverse food production strategies. Field work will include practicing gardening techniques such as biointensive, permaculture, organic and biodynamic, and ecological restoration work.

This course highlights the proactive aspects of communicating effectively in personal and professional settings. Communication influencing techniques such as word choices and persuasiveness are stressed to effectively convey thoughts and ideas.

Topics include: sustainable operations (e.g. waste and chemical management); the built environment and new construction; environmentally preferable purchasing and supply chain management and resource conservation and community partnerships.

Obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to research, bid, contract and implement an Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) program. Learn how to assess the products and services used in your company, find and evaluate information about green products and services, identify federal, state and other regulations on green purchasing, calculate teh costs and benefits of purchasing choices and design, implement and manage green purchasing processes.

Discover resources, information, practical lessons and applications from field professionals to guide you through development and implementation of sustainable business practices in food services. Topics include financially justifying a green policy and operational improvements, waste elimination, energy efficiencies for food preparation and facility management, water conservation, green cleaning, sustainable procurement practices (including sourcing green produce), marketing green, improvements to company culture and employee training and motivation.

Gain a working knowledge and history of modern electric vehicles from earliest incarnations in the 19th century through the demise in the early 20th century and revival in the 21st century. This course will examine teh quest for a better battery, economic advantages as compared to those powered by the internal compustion engine, includes a detailed study of the electric vehicle technology-both low and high speed versions-as they exist today with a look at the future. This class includes hands-on operation and discussion, as well as driving of actual electric vehicles. This class serves as a pre-requisite for a follow-up course of a more detailed and technical nature.

The artist will present students with his complete process, beginning with the first contact, finding potential prospects, through all the steps culminating in a final artwork. Included will be: describing the process to potential clients, gathering material for the artwork, soliciting business owner's input, suggesting uses for the finished art, pricing the work, and explaining the benefits to the business. The unique qualities of a "family business", how to get started, how to plan and create a portfolio, and other related topics will also be discussed. Some art background a plus. The object of this course is to assist the student to develop a plan to create a product that will be paid for by businesses. This is a program to empower artists and creative entrepreneurs to explore the general marketplace for potential commissions.
