Prerequisite: Designed to teach the student the mathematical skills essential for safe administration of medications. Topics include: ratio, proportion, intravenous solution, apothecary and metric systems, and pediatric dosages. Allowable Times for Credit: 1.00 Maximum Credits Allowed: ACH: 110.40-132.00 Lab: 2.00- Credits: 5.00- Contact Hrs: 6.00- Lecture: 4.00- Prerequisite: Satisfactory test scores or TABE test; HEED 101 preferred. Provides training to meet today's health care facilities' phlebotomy requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, the individual will be eligible to take the national certification exam. A separate application is required for this course and acceptance into the program is by interview process. The Emergency Medical Technician is an entry level course into the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care. This program provides both written and practical instruction emphasizing the knowledge and skills utilized by the EMT as a health care professional. Upon successful completion of both the written and practical components of HEED 131 & 132, students are eligible to take the Michigan Department of Public Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services, and Licensure Examination for Emergency Medical Technicians.
