This course introduces the student to essential skills of the medical transcriptionist including transcribing equipment, reference materials, stationary supplies, report formats, eponyms, commonly confused terms, and misspelled words. The student will develop and demonstrate the skills required for transcription of medical dictation from a variety of medical specialties and the development of speed and accuracy. Offered at WWTC

This course is a continuation of Transcription I, including transcription of authentic physician-dictated reports organized by body system or medical specialty. Emphasis is on development of accuracy, speed, medical knowledge for transcription of letters, chart notes, history and physical examination reports, consultations, emergency room reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, laboratory reports, diagnostic studies, radiology, and pathology reports. The student will develop and demonstrate the skills required using reference materials and other resources, editing and proofreading techniques, proper grammar and punctuation. Offered at WWTC

This course is a continuation of Medical Transcription I and Medical Transcription II. It includes transcription of authentic physician-dictated reports organized by body system or medical specialty. The development of accuracy, speed, and medical knowledge for transcription of letters, chart notes, history and physical examination reports, consultations, emergency room reports, operative reports, discharge summaries, laboratory reports, diagnostic studies, radiology, and pathology reports is emphasized.
