Prerequisite: MTH 0800 or placement This course is designed for healthcare workers/nursing students who administer medications to adults and children. The following basic math concepts are included in the course: ratio and proportion calculations conversions between the metric, apothecary, and household systems; safe dosages based on body weight; and calculation formulas for regulating intravenous fluids. Prerequisite: MTH 0900 or placement at MTH 0900 This course is designed for healthcare workers/nursing students who will be administering critical intravenous medications. Basic math concepts are applied to critical intravenous medication calculations. Emphasis is placed on accurately calculating the following areas: critical intravenous medications to be given over a specific time period; correction of errors when intravenous flow rates are inaccurate; intravenous fluid volumes over specified time periods; and intravenous heparin and pediatric critical intravenous medications given over specified time periods and for specific body weight. Offered irregularly.

Prerequisite: HTH 1830L must be taken in the same semester Students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a nursing assistant or a geriatric nursing assistant performing delegated nursing tasks. Course work is in the classroom and nursing lab. Students completing this course and HTH 1830L, Nursing Assistant: Practice, meet eligibility requirements to become a certified nursing assistant through the Maryland Board of Nursing and/or may take the geriatric nursing competency exam. Prerequisite: none Students learn the fundamentals of DC and AC circuits, digital electronics, and interconnection technology. Through lectures and laboratory exercises, they learn the use of basic electronics test equipment and electronics safety procedures, and gain "hands-on" experience in building and testing twistedpair (10 base-T), co-axial, ribbon, and fiber optics cables used in computer networking. Students practice obtaining information from manufacturer's data sheets and catalogs for various types of networking hardware. An overview of LAN systems and LAN connectivity is included. Prerequisite: RDG 0800 or placement Students learn to use the Internet and intranet and build simple web documents. Content includes basic concepts, e-mail, searching, using newsgroups, Telnet, FTP, and Gopher, creating basic HTML documents, links, basic client-side scripting and simple forms, and connecting to the Net. Offered in the fall semester. Course fee: $30.00
