    Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This is a holistic course on the importance of parks and outdoor recreation. It will discuss the basic areas of management such as natural resources, people, facilities, law enforcement, and finances. It will also touch on topics such as the foundation of outdoor recreation, psychology and the natural environment, the social aspects and economics of outdoor pursuits, and federal, state and local management policies and agencies. The course will also cover various curriculums available for the naturalist (Project Wild, Project Wild Aquatic, Project Learning Tree, and Nature Scope). The class will visit or have a presentation by local park managers to see and discuss how they are used by the public.     Credits: 3 Prerequisite: NATR 1120, NATR 1112 This course discusses basic silvicultural characteristics and cultural practices found in forest stand improvement, thinning practices and harvesting methods. The management aspect involves the basic components of overall management such as: yearly forest scheduling, the forest management plan, area and volume regulation, and growing stock and allowable cut formulas. The lab includes timber cruising techniques in the field, as well as some scaling of both cord wood and logs. We visit with local foresters, loggers, and industry when possible.     Credits: 2 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program This course examines the complexity of the professional role in nursing and focuses on the roles of leadership and management, delegation and supervision, teaching, ethical and legal concepts in nursing practice, and the processes of critical thinking and synthesis.     Credits: 6 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program The first course is a two semester sequence emphasizing use of the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement nursing interventions to support adaptation of individuals, families and groups during interferences with physiological, psychosocial, sociocultural, spiritual and developmental integrity. Concepts related to teaching/learning needs and the RN role in providing education to prevent, preserve, and restore health are presented. Content includes caring for clients across the life-span. The course content includes: nursing process, fluid & electrolytes/acid-base balance, genitourinary system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, the normal childbearing family, pharmacology, and mental health and illness. Concurrent enrollment in NURS 2513 is required. Failure to pass NURS 2513 would result in a failing grade in this lecture/classroom course. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 6 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program Follows and builds upon Nursing 2501. Complexity of concepts increases and includes content related to human adaptive mechanisms, sexuality issues in health and illness, nursing care of pediatric clients, safety needs in health and illness, nursing needs related to the endocrine system, musculoskeletal function, immune system and oncology, neurological function, digestive and gastrointestinal function, and high-risk childbearing family nursing care. Concurrent enrollment in NURS 2514 is required. Failure to pass NURS 2514 would result in a failing grade in this lecture/classroom course. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 3 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program Clinical lab component that focuses on the application of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation with individuals across the life-span experiencing acute and chronic illness, families experiencing childbearing, and individuals and families in dysfunction. Clinical sites may include acute care settings, as well as clinics, and various community service agencies. Pass/Fail Grading. Concurrent enrollment in NURS 2501 is required; failure to pass NURS 2501 would result in a failing grade in this clinical practicum. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 4 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program Integration of knowledge, skills and principles with emphasis on the nursing process in implementing nursing interventions for a group of individuals. Additional course emphasis includes applying leadership skills and transition to graduate RN role. Clinical sites may include acute and long-term care settings, as well as clinics, homes and various community service agencies. NURS 2512 begins week six of spring semester and runs for 12 weeks.     Credits: 1 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program This course is designed to build on concepts, knowledge and skills attained in a practical nursing program. Role differences between the LPN and RN are discussed. This course begins to integrate the application of concepts of role transition for the AD nursing student, including communication, critical thinking, educator role, nursing leadership and management, and ethical/legal components of nursing. Selected RN psychomotor skills are taught and evaluated in the nursing lab. (2 classroom hours/week; lab integrated with classroom hours.) Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 1 Prerequisite: admission to ADN Program This course offers a basic review of math and ratio/proportion as applied by health care professionals. Topics include the metric system, preparation of solutions, pediatric dosage, I.V. solutions, and advanced I.V. titration of medications. Application will be made through subsequent nursing courses.
