In addition, it focuses on the ethical questions inherent in each of these areas such as intellectual property rights (illegal music downloading), artistic responsibility (effects of content on listeners), artistic restrictions (Wal- Mart effect, censorship), industry monopolies (Clear Channel radio, corporate ownership of public media).     Credits: 3 Prerequisite: basic music reading and computer skills This course leads students through introductory audio software through Protools, a comprehensive digital audio recording, editing and mixing software.     Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This course is class instruction for all types of voices covering the basic fundamentals of voice training, vocal building exercises, breathing exercises, vowel placement, phonation and posture, ear training, basic note reading, improved confidence, vocal health tips, introduction to various vocal styles from classics to pop, microphone technique, and fun group singing. Course will also include guest artist performances and private consultation with instructor. Students are not required to do solo performances in this class.     Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This course will cover the role that law enforcement plays in managing natural resources, as well as basic field equipment (i.e., binoculars, spotting scopes, blinds, etc.) used in the process. Discussions will be held with local conservation officers to learn about their jobs and the roles they play within the Natural Resources community. Ethical considerations to prevent harm to the individual animal and still have a quality viewing experience will also be covered. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none This course involves information and skills using pacing, compasses, maps, aerial photos, and various related equipment. In class we will discuss things such as azimuth, bearing, declination, various kinds of maps, and the different scales that are used in determining distance. We will discuss aerial photos and how they are used in resource work along with legal descriptions for the locations of various parcels of land. The lab will be field oriented and the use of various compasses, pacing techniques, and using transits will be covered as much as possible. However, some days will be spent inside working on maps and photos. GPS and GIS will be discussed. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none

    Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This course will cover many of the wildflowers, ferns, lichens, and club mosses found in MN. Lecture will cover information concerning the different plant orders, families and species. Lab will focus on plant identification using slides, lab specimens, and field observations.     Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none This course is designed around the practical aspects of dendrology and silvics. It includes taxonomy and nomenclature, the learning of specific characteristics and terminology used to identify trees. The course discusses the sivical requirements of trees as well as observing the native trees of the area and relating them to the other species across the U.S. Both summer and winter characteristics of trees are discussed and students will use dichotomous keys to identify twigs and fruit. Basic information on pruning, insects and disease is also included. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): none
