Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none This course is designed around the practical aspects of dendrology and silvics. It includes taxonomy and nomenclature, the learning of specific characteristics and terminology used to identify trees. The course discusses the sivical requirements of trees as well as observing the native trees of the area and relating them to the other species across the U.S. Both summer and winter characteristics of trees are discussed and students will use dichotomous keys to identify twigs and fruit.
