Provides an historical account of development & innovation of technology. Emphasis is on the development of scientific knowledge and its relationship to inventions and their evolution. Relationship of systems of training &technology utilization will also be explored. Prerequisite: Jr standing

Provides students a critical examination of selected areas of technology & their impact on the workforce. Topics include invention & product development, communications, construction, transportation, biomedical, environmental & future technologies. Prerequisites: EN 208 or concurrent enrollment.

Designed to teach the student techniques for assessing systems in the workplace. The emphasis throughout the course will be on quality enhancement movement. Students will learn to assess & evaluate systems using such techniques as flow charts, cause & effect diagrams, & pareto charts. Students are presented with information on basic program evaluation procedures as well as issues like systems thinking, casual loops, & quality enhancement techniques. Issues of quality leadership & teaming practices will be introduced. Prerequisite: Jr standing & MA 110 or college-level stats course.

An in-depth study of the organization of accident prevention programs, job hazards, analysis, accident cost control, and planning & maintaining of a safe environment. Includes risk management & quality assurance issues such as inspections, reports, external (federal, state, & local standards) and established internal standards for ensuring client & agency personnel health & safety. Prerequisites: Jr standing.

In-depth study of policy issues in relation to technology. Deals with technology policy at the basis economic units, such as firms, households, persons, & aggregated units, such as the state, the nation, & the international community as well. Full consideration given to issues like technological efficiency, socioeconomic development, environment, ethics, security, & others. Special emphasis is given to political process in which technology policies are shaped in private or public organizations. Prerequisite: Jr standing, TA 300 & TA 310.
