The thesis project de 603 / de 604 courses provide a supportive context for the development of the project component of the thesis. The class limited to 5 students, is a forum to articulate and debate the issues associated with individual thesis projects. The work in class is structured by a specific agreement between the student and faculty advisor, who guides the program of study, and provides ongoing feedback and evaluation. The student select a particular course/faculty upon approval of the preliminary thesis proposals. The faculty advisors may further define their own specific criteria, process and schedule of thesis development. Prerequisites: Culturally Diverse ContenType: t Enrollment:

This course is focused on developing a better understanding of the complexities of the re-synthesis of visual, oral, aural, and temporal information as they exist in time-based and interactive media. Through lecture and in-class demonstration students will learn the technological processes necessary to begin temporal explorations in sound and image. Prerequisites: Type: Culturally Diverse Content Enrollment:

Drawing has a long and rich history, and this course is an attempt to encourage students to create a vocabulary of skills. Through looking and practice, each student learns tools to apply to their individual creative work in order to develop a coherent language of expression. Cross-disciplinary in nature, drawings are a means of communication - of ideas, objects, and places. Working from direct observation, students begin with small sketches at a human scale and build upon their work in diverse contexts. Prerequisites: None Type: lecture/seminar(3hrs) Culturally Diverse Content Enrollment: departmental required

3.00 Credits
Development of technical drawing skills through exploration in various media using architectural or industrial design contexts. Introduces various drawing techniques. Attention is given to 3D material rendition, construction means, and form characteristics through measuring, documentation, and transformation into 2D drawing. Freehand and hard line drawing including plan, section, elevation, axonometric, isometric, and perspective. Prerequisites: Type: critique(4hrs) Culturally Diverse Content Enrollment: departmental elective

The course will address the preliminary design skills and the process of design associated with basic issues in architecture presented as a series of projects that each connect patterns of use, specific building materials, formal aspects of materials in context, space and meaning. Issues will include building and ground, building and light, definition of the edge and screens, programs and sizes of use, material frameworks and organization, orientation and context. Prerequisites: AD1XX & AD1X1 Type: critique(4hrs) Culturally Diverse Content Enrollment: departmental required
