  • Includes methods of structural analysis, advanced synthesis and reactions, biochemistry and organometallic topics. Lab experiments emphasize techniques in synthesis, purification and analysis. Lab and recitation required. Prerequisite: CHEM 2423 within the last five years with a grade of "C" or better.4 credit hours. *This course is also offered through the Center for Advanced Study in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CASMNS).   • This course is a continuation of Organic Chemistry I. Lecture topics proceed with nomenclature, stereochemistry, structural properties, physical properties, reactivity and reaction mechanisms of selected functional groups. Laboratory topics focus on isolation and synthesis of pharmacological substances and qualitative organic analysis of an unknown. Prerequisite: CHEM 2423.
