For students who wish to conduct library studies, curate museum collections, help faculty with a variety of special projects, or perform other activities. The student is expected to spend two to four hours per week on the project for each hour of credit earned. The exact hourly commitment per week will depend on the nature of the project and will be agreed on in advance by the student and instructor. No more than six hours independent study, cooperative education, and/or undergraduate research may be counted for biology elective credit (See "Indenpendent Research and Study"on page 35). One, two, or threecredit hours.

Students who want to take a special problems course must submit a brief proposal of planned study to the GCRL registrar. Special problems proposal forms are available from the GCRL registrar.
