    Basic to advanced use of general managerial software that is commonly used in entertainment. Emphasis is given to special techniques and efficient use of word processors, spreadsheets, databases, etc. . Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Effectively utilize spreadsheet software to automate processes. (2) Create managerial databases. (3) Utilize word-processing software for interdepartmental communication. (4) Develop resume with proper formatting technique.

    Discussion of common construction methods used in the theatre and practical application of techniques in woodworking. Prerequisites: Acceptance in the program. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Build with the various common materials found and used in theatrical construction. (2) Demonstrate proper building techniques for standard scenic elements (i.e Hollywood and Broadway style flats, platforms, and stairs). (3) Use safe building practices and recognize potential safety and health related issues involved with various materials. (4) Operate a broader spectrum of tools and equipment than that covered in previous courses and receive training on many of the tools with an eye for "finish work". (5) Evaluate the areas of time management, scheduling and budgeting and understand how all areas factor in to the successful completion of constructed projects.

    This course advances the theatrical costume design and production student in the skills of flat patterning and draping as well as more complex construction techniques for the creation of costumes. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1) Recognize, name, and use pattern engineering tools, equipment, and teminology. 2) Draft and drape a basic block pattern to properly fit a form. 3) Understand and use dart manipulation and create a bodice pattern for a garment based on a sketch or rendering. Examine key historical and contemporary research specific to patterning and draping women's costume. 5) Apply the theory and practice of draping, drafting, and flat patterning. 6) Exercise professional costume shop policies and professional collaborations. 7) Define the importance of the collaborative process between the designer and draper.

    Basic to advanced use of general design software including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Muse. Emphasis is given to image import, manipulation and composition. The course aims to enable the student to create visual supported presentations (portfolio) on the computer. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Effectively utilize photo editing software. (2) Manipulate digital images though digital paint and editing techniques. (3) Develop a digital portfolio using appropriate software. (4) Employ presentation software to develop professional quality presentations.

    A study of basic techniques employed by the scenic artist for the recreation of faux finishes. Emphasis is placed on equipment and its maintenance, procedure and practical application to framed scenery and three-dimensional units. Prerequisites: PROD 124. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Manipulate different paints, painting tools and techniques. (2) Focus on faux finishes and how to recreate them. (3) Decipher paint renderings and learn how to recreate them. (4) Improve drawing skills and cartooning techniques.

    An introduction to Scene Design that focuses on the storytelling aspects of Design and Scenography. Students will understand the function and skill of a scenic designer, learn basic techniques of designing in 3D space, practice conceptual development and visual communication skill and undergo the design process with several hand's on projects. Prerequisites: PROD 124. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Assist a theatrical designer in the creation of a theatrical design. (2) Explore the design process from script analysis to the conceptual idea. (3) Communicate, create and execute concept ideas. (4) Evaluate creative work and select creative work to construct a display.

    An introduction to Lighting Design that focuses on the storytelling aspects of Light and Scenography. Students will understand the function and skill of a lighting designer, learn basic operations of Light, practice concept development and visual communication skill. This class is "hands-on" and includes many practical applications and experimentation with light. Prerequisites: PROD 124. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Analyze a script. (2) Collaborate with the director and other members in the design team to arrive at a consensus regarding lighting decisions. (3) Create a Lighting Design for a theatrical production. (4) Communicate lighting design decisions for the production electrician with appropriate paperwork. (5) Implement their ideas in the technical process. (6) Reevaluate and improve their design in dress rehearsals and preview shows.

    An introduction to Costume Design that focuses on the storytelling aspects of Costume Design and Scenography. Students will understand the function and skill of a costume designer learn basic costume design skills and practice concept development and visual communication skills. Prerequisites: PROD 124. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Implement the elements and principles of design. (2) Develop basic design concepts. (3) Break down and analyze a script for design work. (4) Create renderings quickly and accurately. (5) Research a period effectively.
