Students will apply computational, critical thinking, and financial analysis tools to data to make it useful for business decisions of a financial nature. The student will demonstrate an understanding of alternative forms of business organization, ratio analysis, risk-return tradeoffs, time value of money, debt versus equity financing, valuation of securities, and capital budgeting. Students will study and examine the legal environment of business using the case method in which law is applied to factual situations. In BUS 2530, students study court systems and procedural law, tort and criminal law, constitutional law, and contract law. In BUS 2540, students study the law related to personal property and bailments, real property, secured transactions and bankruptcy, business structure including partnerships and corporations, and the Uniform Commercial Code. 3 credit hours.
