    A semester program of study of a specific business topic not offered as a formal business course; may be taken only with the permission of the department chairperson. 3 credits.

    An overview of the problems and factors involved in effective management of production and operating system facilities, and an exposure to the concepts of operations and technology management. Current issues, ideas and problems of interest found in production theory will be discussed. Students will be responsible to acquire an understanding of the following: inventory control, production planning, equipment replacement, quality assurance methods and production distribution. This course is strongly recommended to business majors who wish to pursue graduate study. Prerequisites: BU221; BU313; IS124. 3 credits.

    Coverage includes securities markets, online information and investing, return and risk, statistical portfolio management, analyzing security information, valuation theory as applied to common stocks and fixed income securities, mutual fund investing, and personal portfolio management techniques.     A foundation course exploring the nature of the function, the reasons for its growth and its applicability in solving problems in understanding between the corporation and its many publics, and in guiding management in achieving corporate goals. Emphasis on understanding public opinion and on influencing it by methods of communication so that harmonious relationships are achieved. Prerequisite: BU241. 3 credits

    An investigation of the functions of marketing research management and methodologies. Topics include problem identification, establishing management and marketing objectives, developing the research plan, choosing the proper sample, legal and ethical parameters, demographic diversities, design of data-gathering instruments, data analysis, the development of conclusions and recommendations, and preparing the report. Prerequisites: BU221, BU241, BU313. 3 credits.

    This course will provide an understanding of the fundamentals necessary to establish and complete a successful internship experience. Students must participate in an internship related to their area of interest or present employment which will fulfill one of the two experiential learning graduation requirements. The internship must be coordinated through the Office of Career Development. Junior status in a School of Business major is required in order to register for this course. 1 credit.
  • 40.00 - 50.00 Credits

    Experiential learning is provided to students in businessrelated fields. The work period must cover a minimum of 40-50 hours per credit earned. 1-3 credits.
  • 1.00 Credits

    An internship requires the completion of 35-45 hours of qualifying work (including supporting interactive and written activities) per credit earned over a period of one semester as approved by assigned internship faculty advisor. Internships are only available to student who are deemed to be in good standing by the Associate Provost's Office for Academic Support and Student Life Programs. An internship may be undertaken during the fall or spring semester or during the summer only after completion of BU450 Internship Preparation. 2 - 12 credits.
  • 3.00 Credits

    An academic option for the adult student employed in a supervisory or professional capacity. A student may earn three to twelve credits for prior learning in supervisory or professional employment situations. The student must be employed for a minimum of three years for the minimum three credits and is expected to document in a portfolio knowledge gained through this experience. Entry into this course is subject to department approval. The number of credits approved for the course is dependent upon the depth, breadth and length of managerial experience. This course requirement is in lieu of BU451 and BU452. 3-12 credits. Offered only with the permission of the department chairperson.
  • 3.00 Credits

    For senior majors whose academic records indicate the ability to complete independent research. Provides an opportunity to develop research and analytical skills through intensive study and investigation of a selected or general business problem, embodying the results in a report. Permission of department chairperson required. One semester; 1-3 credits.
