Students learn GIS concepts and use advanced GIS software to analyze, interpret and display spatial data for a variety of disciplines. Prerequisite: basic computer skills or CIS 123.

Data collection, management, analysis and presentation using advanced Global Positioning System/GIS data loggers and sophisticated software to design projects, import, collect, rectify and analyze field data and present results in cartographic form. Students receive instruction in field and office procedures using advanced resource grade GPS/GIS hardware and software. Prerequisite: basic computer skills or CIS 123.

An overview of Geographic Information Systems (GIS. Hands-on experience using ArcView software: basic ArcView functionality, and data structure. An ArcView software certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of training. Prerequisite: GIS 101 or instructor's permission.
