    This course will provide a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of electricity including quantities such as voltage, current, resistance, and power. Underlying physical principles, as well as applications will be emphasized. The course will lead to a comparison of the characteristics and uses of both dc and ac electricity. Hands-on lab activities will involve observations and measurements of electrical circuits including components such as dc and ac sources, resistors capacitors and inductors.     New and sometimes experienced workers can be taught critical skills necessary for success in the workplace. The D.C.C. program teaches workers these practical, hands-on skills to be the kind of worker employers search high and low for. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Workplace Preparation has been working wth various groups since 2006. New York State has been an "investor" State in the project. The course is based upon nationally validated "Equipped for the Future" learning standards which were created as part of the National Institute for Literacy's ten-year initiative. The course completion indicates an individual's readiness for entry-level work and provides employers with some degree of assurance that the worker is reliable. The program addresses the nine skill areas that measure: - Using Math to Solve Problems - Problem Solving and Decision Making - Observing Critically - Speaking to Others - Taking Responsibility for Learning - Cooperating with Others - Resolving Conflicts and Negotiation - Listening Actively - Reading with Understanding Call 431-8910 to be placed on a wait list.
