In this course, students will examine the various tools available for post processing, color/contrast correction, image toning, retouching, and other enhancements for digital images. Aspects of digital capture, color space, profiles, workflow and asset management will also be explored. A basic knowledge and understanding of layers and masks is helpful. A working knowledge of Photoshop is prerequisite.

You will learn camera fundamentals as well as working with the digital image in black and white. This class will include some Photoshop and printing techniques. Students should bring a digital camera with manual controls, provide their own printing materials, and have transportation for frequent field trips.

Each student will focus on individual projects that enable him/her to use the camera as a tool for visual exploration and documentation. Using the camera or format of choice, each student will gain practical experience on a documentary photo project(s), with weekly critiques and editing sessions. The relationship between words and images, as well as the historical and social significance of documentary photography, will be examined and discussed.

    Instructors: Susan Ellis & Joseph Rothrock TWO SESSIONS Saturday, May 9, 9:00 AM -4:30 PM; Sunday May 10, 9:00 AM -12:00 PM Non-Credit Tuition: $125 Combining classroom and outdoor photography sessions, this workshop will assist those with basic photography skills and beyond in making dramatic close-up pictures of the natural world. We will look at lighting techniques- both natural and flash, and explore different aperture and shutter speed settings that will provide photographers with a range of tools to take creative control of their close-up images. Recommended equipment includes a Single Lens Reflex ( SLR) camera, preferably digital, or a camera with manual controls; close-up lens; sturdy tripod; and a flash that can be removed from the camera. A half-hour lunch break will be scheduled, so you may bring your lunch to class. Please note that students must provide transportation for field trips.

Learn how to format text, control page layout, and understand hyperlinks and keys to comprehensive website navigation. The course will cover creating compressed graphics, developing an online form, considering basic guidelines for search engine optimization and using an FTP application. Students will employ new knowledge to construct their own functional website as a final project. Prerequisite: Photoshop I.

They enable the web designer to separate the content from the style of the sites. This course will explore in real-world application how style sheets can control your colors, typography, and layout schemes, rather than style-oriented tags and tables. Prerequisites: Web Design Fundamentals and experience with Adobe Photoshop.

    Instructor: Randy Ciurlino winter one session Saturday, 10:00 AM -4:00 PM, January 24 NON-CREDIT Tuition: $75/Lab Fee: $10 How do you make photographs without a lens? A simple pinhole's ability to focus light has been known since the 5th century B.C. yet contemporary photographers still use them. In class we will fabricate pinhole cameras from provided materials. Using your handmade camera, you will capture photographic images the very same day. Find out for yourself what has long fascinated practitioners about this deceptively simple image-making system.
