This course will provide an overview of the essential theoretical and practical aspects of the histology lab. The student will be introduced to the correlation of cells, tissues and organ systems in histological practices. This course includes and introduction to the lab workflow, OSHA safety regulations, instumentation, fixatives, stains, biological, chemical and hazards. The student will acquire the essential concepts of approved standards of practice needed to work safely in the lab.
Prerequisite:
Take 1 group (Take COM-098; Minimum grade C /Take EAP-050 EAP-060; Minimum grade C /Take COM-121; Minimum grade C). (Required, Previous). | Take BIO-140; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

3.00 Credits
The purpose of this course is to build on Introduction to Histology(HTT-110) and prepare the histology technician student for the clinical experience in the summer semester of the program. In this course, general laboratory techniques, safety and professional issues will be reviewed and expanded upon. Contemporary topics in histology will be discussed. The course will cover introductory basic concepts and procedures used in each of the major areas of the histology laboratory.
Prerequisite:
Take MAT-130; Minimum grade D. (Required, Previous). | Take HTT-110; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

4.00 Credits
The purpose of this course is to introduce the entry level student of histotechnology to the clinical laboratory during the summer semester. In this course, the student will gain practical experience in laboratory techniques, safety, quality control and professional behaviors that were learned in the previous courses.
Prerequisite:
Take HTT-120; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

3.00 Credits
The purpose of the course is to build on Histology Techniques (HTT 120) and to concurrently accompany the clinical experience during the fall semester of the program.In this course, histology staining techniques will be emphasized along with safety and quality control.
Prerequisite:
Take HTT-120; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

3.00 Credits
The purpose of this course is for the histotechnician student to build upon the concepts learned in Histotechnology Staining Techniques (HTT 210)and acquire the theoretic knowledge needed to perform advanced procedures used in a histology laboratory. In this course, specialized laboratory techniques, safety, quality, and professional topics will be addressed. The course will cover special stains and procedures used in the histology laboratory.
Prerequisite:
Take HTT-210; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

6.00 Credits
The purpose of this course is to build upon the student's previous clinical practicum experience. IN this course, the student will learn more advanced histology techniques and be introduced to special staining techniques. Safety, quality control, and professionalism will be reinforced.
Prerequisite:
Take HTT-150; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

9.00 Credits
This course is the capstone clinical experience for the histotechnician student. During this final practicum, the student will build upon their previous clinical experience to demonstrate competency in histology skills and demonstrate readiness for entry-level employment. Additional specialized laboratory techniques, immunohistochemistry, safety, quality control and professional issues will be covered.
Prerequisite:
Take HTT-250; Minimum grade C. (Required, Previous).

The goal of this course is to introduce students to purposeful, organized, analytical thinking which they can apply in other areas of academic study as well as in daily life. Students will develop a reasoning process that includes identifying and analyzing issues in order to make reasoned choices using evidentially grounded beliefs.
Prerequisite:
Take COM-041 COM-051 COM-097 or COM-121; Minimum grade D. (Required, Previous).

This course provides a forum to explore the concept of leadership and to develop and improve leadership skills. The course incorporates readings from the humanities, experiential exercises, films, and contemporary readings on leadership.

Take COM-121; Minimum grade D. (Required, Previous).

3.00 Credits
This course provides students with an overview of computer systems and related information technology issues. Topics include historical development and basic functions of computers; computer systems; major computer applications, data communications and networks; graphics and multimedia; ethical and social issues; and career opportunities. The operating system is introduced and basic operating system commands and conventions are explained and utilized.
Prerequisite:
Take 1 group (Take COM-098; Minimum grade D /Take EAP-050 EAP-060; Minimum grade D /Take COM-121; Minimum grade D). (Required, Previous).
