The course integrates molecular, cellular, and biochemical events in the immune system response to foreign invasion. Studies involve innate and specific immune systems, cells and tissues involved in the immune system, immunoglobulin structure and function, genetic expression of antibodies, the nature of antigen antibody interactions, mechanisms of B cell and T cell development, and activation, hypersensitivity, and autoimmunity. Offered: Fall Term.

(Information- Literacy Intensive Course & Writing Intensive Course) This course will be designed to foster and support students curiosity regarding the world in which they live and to give them the tools to explore and understand their world using scientific methods and principles. Students will be challeged to find science and technology in the news and to understand scientifically derived information. They will gain specific skills in finding information , synthesizing it, developing research questions, and presenting their ideas clearly in written and oral form. Pre-Requisite: SLF110,125,312, SCH111,112,311 & 312.

Through seminars and research, individual programs are developed with each student. A student is required to acquire knowledge in fields such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, surgical (animal) procedure, pathology, genetics, and embryology, which will complement the student's research interest. Students are guided in their study by the preceptorial method, lectures, and discussions. Pre-Requisite: Junior or Senior Standing and Permission of Instructor.

Supervised research thesis and advanced course work with intensive individual or groups study in one of the biological sciences. Hours to be arranged. Students selected by examination and by the Biology faculty. Prerequisite: Senior standing (biology major) or permission from the instructor.

An introductory course that provides a general understanding of the characteristics and education of ELL students and exceptional learners. Basic concepts and considerations are discussed including definitions, classifications,and aspects of ELL and the various exceptionsalities. The historical milestones of special education, modern trends and educational programming are also presented. Twenty hours of field experience are an integral part of the course.

This course explores the dynamics of school achievement and psychosocial relationships. Procedures for enhancing children's self-concept in the classroom are also presented, and interrelationships between self-concept and exceptional conditions in children are examined. Pre-Requisite: None

An in-depth analysis of perceptual-motor skills development as the foundation for learning. Fine and gross motor skill, visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile skill development are discussed. A review of effective prosthetic devices and procedures is presented. Pre-Requisite: None

The purpose of this course is to present an introduction to definitions , concepts and strategies of inclusive education. The course will examine the philosophical , legal and educational foundations and implications of inclusive education. Effective instructional and behavioral practices for promoting participation of students with and without disablities in general education will be identified and discussed.

SPE 121 or SPE 220

This course stresses facilitative communications with students. Barriers to communication and different communication styles are explored. Application of principles and techniques in simulated and actual classroom situations are presented. Pre-Requisite: Permission of Instructor.
