ITDY 220P: Peer Leadership Seminar I
3.00 Credits
Saint John Fisher University
Students in the Peer Leadership Seminar are introduced to both the theory and practice of peer leadership, with a particular emphasis on inter-group dialogue, group facilitation, community building, and wellness issues. Building on the insights of recent student development theory, the course gives students opportunities to test the conclusions of the research and develop their own insights as they apply what they are learning in one or more settings-as co-facilitators with faculty in the Freshman Seminar, as peer navigators in the HEOP program, and as facilitators for residence hall programs. Prerequisite: Students should have taken ITDY/SERV 120C or had prior leadership experience. In addition, enrollment in ITDY 220P is limited to participants in the Peer Advisor and Peer Navigator programs.

ITDY 487: Guided Fieldwork
3.00 Credits
Saint John Fisher University
This course focuses on a fieldwork/research project culminating in either a media documentary on a topic that interests the student or a research paper based on extensive and intensive primary source research. Students may select either historical or contemporary topics. Students are expected to complete a substantial research-based documentary project in any one of the following forms: audio, video, hypermedia, still photography (with an exhibit catalog/captions), or text. Students work with the course instructor as well as appropriate on-campus experts; they receive feedback, from fellow students enrolled in the course as well. Discussion of individually selected readings in history and media, media ethics, documentary and contemporary issues, and production techniques complement the discussions of individual projects. Topics dealing with New York State or New England are recommended, as textual, aural, and graphic sources are more readily available. Likewise, local community, institutional, business, and political studies are especially encouraged.
