This includes a study of various ways to apply educati onal psychology concepts and principles for working with students in the classroom and meet the complex challenges of teaching. This course is a study of advanced techniques for interventi on in crisis situati ons, including skills of assessment, acti ve listening, focused explorati on, acti on planning, treatment, and terminati on of treatment planning; reviews major situati ons that create crisis. This course encompasses the socio-cultural, environmental, spiritual, and religious infl uences on the person and the family. This course also introduces the student to the concept of family and provides an overview of the theories of human development. Focus is on family development and relati onships, physiologic concepts, psychological concepts, and nursing implicati ons from concepti on to death. Enrollment is restricted to Allied Health students only. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: PS 113

This course provides fi eld or practi cal experience for individuals in the Substance Abuse Counselor degree program. The student will be under the supervision of a faculty member and a licensed professional assigned to the locati on/facility at which the student will with the faculty member's guidance apply knowledge in a supervised setti ng of no less than 150 clock hours at an insti tuti onally approved facility/locati on. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor is required.

This is a physical educati on acti vity course designed to give the student fl exibility in their personal fi tness program. Conducted at the NMJC Del Norte Center, the student is given the opportunity to uti lize diff erent areas for fi tness such as cardiovascular training, multi -gym weight training, free-weight training, aerobic dance training, racquetball, or swimming. This is a one credit hour course.

This course will give the working professional fl exibility in their personal fi tness program. It is a blended course delivered through online instructi on and traditi onal instructi on methods. The traditi onal component of this class is conducted at the NMJC Caster Acti vity Center, under the guidance of a physical educati on professor. The student is given the opportunity to uti lize diff erent areas for fi tness such as cardiovascular training, multi -gym weight training, nauti lus training, and free-weight training. This is a one credit hour course.
