This course will explore ways to provide emoti onally and physically safe environments for young children (birth - eight years old). Sound health, safety, and nutriti onal practi ces will be examined. Possibiliti es of involvement of local agencies, personnel, and faciliti es will also be discussed. This is a two credit hour course.

3.00 Credits
This course will provide the student with skills for use in the teaching and learning relati onships of young children. The student will use his or her child development knowledge, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practi ces, and content knowledge to design, implement and evaluate experience that promote opti mal development and learning for all children from birth through age eight. In additi on, the student's use of observati ons is grounded in a thorough understanding of children's families, culture, and communiti es. This is a three credit hour course. Co-requisite: ED 212

3.00 Credits
This course will explore how language develops during a child's early formati ve years, within each child's culture, regardless of their individual home language. The student will become familiar with current research and theories relati ng to the area of language acquisiti on and emergent literacy (early reading and writi ng behaviors). The student will develop materials and strategies for promoti ng language development and early reading and writi ng skills in their early childhood classrooms (birth - 3rd grade). Students will be expected to work with children, outside of class, in order to implement the acti viti es and strategies discussed in class. This is a three credit hour course.

3.00 Credits
This course is for students who are majoring in one of the following: elementary educati on, secondary educati on, special educati on, or bilingual educati on. All students, including special educati on majors, are to be placed in regular classrooms. The course requires thirty (30) hours of observati on in the classroom. Students will observe many aspects of teaching including lesson planning, instructi onal strategies, evaluati on and grading, classroom management, and professional ethics. Also, the students will extend their knowledge of teaching through various readings, teaching a lesson, and keeping a daily journal. The intent of the course is to give structure to the observati ons and prepare students for the courses to come, in which these aspects of teaching will be covered in depth. This is a three credit hour course.

An introducti on to Computer Assisted Draft ing and Design uti lizing the AutoCAD soft ware. The course will cover the fundamentals of 2D draft ing, concentrati ng on developing the necessary skills to become profi cient as a CADD operator. The course will cover the creati on and editi ng of basic objects, notes, specifi cati ons, hatching, and sketching. The course syllabus meets the objecti ves of NMJC course, EG 123, Introducti on to Computer Assisted Draft ing.

A conti nuati on of developing the 2D CADD skills. The course will cover printi ng and plotti ng of drawings, dimensioning and tolerancing, building groups, blocks, symbol libraries, and extracti ng bills of materials. This course will complete the basics required for the CADD operator. Prerequisite: Successful completi on of EG 037 Introducti on to Computer Assisted Draft ing or permission from the instructor

An introducti on to 3D drawings and modeling, surface modeling and rendering, and solid modeling using the AutoCAD soft ware. This course will cover the necessary skills to become profi cient in working with 3D objects in preparati on to meet the requirements of a CADD Technician. The course syllabus meets the objecti ves of NMJC course EG 223A, Advanced Computer Assisted Draft ing. Prerequisite: Successful completi on of EG 057 Intermediate Computer Assisted Draft ing or permission from the instructor

An introducti on to customizing CADD, using the AutoCAD soft ware. The course will cover customizing of menus, slides, and scripts. The use of the AutoLISP programming language as a customizing tool will be introduced. The importi ng and exporti ng of drawing informati on through digiti zing, raster image fi les and database connecti vity will be covered. The course syllabus meets the objecti ves of NMJC course, EG 234 Customizing Computer Assisted Draft ing. Prerequisite: Successful completi on of EG 067, Advanced Computer Assisted Draft ing or permission from the instructor

A introductory course covering the creati on of 3-dimensional objects and animati on using 3D Studio Viz. The course will cover the necessary skills to become profi cient in working with 3-dimensional objects and animati on. The course will cover creati ng a scene, creati ng shapes, modifying splines, loft ing objects, twisti ng objects, creati ng curved paths, deformati on tools, creati ng objects, materials, and 3-dimensional animati on and rendering. The course syllabus meets the objecti ves of NMJC course EG 123C, Introducti on to 3-Dimensional Animati on.

An advanced course covering the creati on of 3-dimensional objects and animati on using 3D Studio Viz and AutoCAD. Importi ng AutoCAD 2-dimensional drawings into 3D Studio Viz, 2-dimensional drawing translati on into 3-dimensional format, and the creati on of an animated walk through will be covered in this course. The exporti ng of 3-dimensional objects into AutoCAD drawing format will be covered. The course syllabus meets the objecti ves of NMJC course EG 224C, Advanced 3-Dimensional Animati on & CAD.
