    The main goal of this course is to provide a fundamental understanding of workstation security principles and implementation. Topics covered include the technologies used and principles involved in creating a secure computer environment. Students will learn about authentication, the attacks and malicious code that may be used against computers, the threats and countermeasures for e-mail, Web applications, and remote access. A variety of security topologies are discussed as well as technologies and concepts used for securing the workstation.

The course uses the foundation knowledge learned in other courses and sample question sets to prepare the student for the exam.     This course covers advanced uses of the Perl programming language. Perl concepts are covered with an emphasis on the uses of Perl for the World Wide Web and database applications. Computer programmers, technicians and network administrators are given the skills they need to write advanced Perl programs. This is done through the use of textbook study, the use of the Perl language to write actual programs assigned by the instructor. Prerequisite: CST 1615

    This course covers the administration of the Novell NetWare Network Operating System and prepares the student for the Novell CNA certification exam. Network administrators are given the skills they need to install and administer a NetWare server. This is done through the use of textbook study and handson structured labs assigned by the instructor. Prerequisite: CST 1072 or other education and field experience.

    This course covers advance topics in Java. After a short review of Java, the topics covered are objects and classes, inheritance, interfaces and inner classes, graphics programming, event handling, user interface components with Swing, applets, exceptions and debugging and files and streams, multithreading, networking, and database connectivity,. The student will be given a project to complete for each of the topics. Prerequisite: CST 1640

    This course covers advanced topics in Java. After a short review of Java, the topics covered are multithreading, networking, database connectivity, advanced swing, Java Beans, native methods, and XML. The student will be given a project to complete for each of the topics. Prerequisite: CST 1640
