Prerequisite: Program Admission Introduces basic knowledge and skills the student must have to succeed in the DET field. Topics include: an overview of diesel powered vehicles, diesel technology safety skills, basic tools and equipment, reference materials, measuring instruments, shop operation, mechanical fasteners, seals & bearings, and fluids and lubricants. Classroom and lab experiences on safety, precision measuring, and basic shop practices are highly emphasized.

Prerequisite/Corequisite: DET 121 Introduces basic electrical/electronic systems used on medium/heavy duty trucks and heavy equipment. Topics include: introduction to diesel electrical and electronic systems, understanding circuits and circuit devices, developing basic diagnosis and repair skills, and understanding vehicle computer controls. Classroom and lab instruction on digital meter usage and interpreting is highly emphasized.

Prerequisite/Corequisite: DET 125 Introduces fuel systems used on medium/heavy trucks and heavy equipment. Topics include: basic fuel systems and components, mechanical fuel injection systems, electronic fuel injection diagnosis and repair, emissions, general engine diagnosis, and tune-up and preventative maintenance. Interpreting test instruments along with diagnosing and troubleshooting are highly emphasized.

Prerequisite: As specified by program Provides the instructor and student an opportunity to develop special learning environments. Instruction is delivered through occupational work experiences, internships, advanced projects, industry sponsored workshops, seminars, or specialized and/or innovative learning arrangements. Topics include: application of occupational/technical skills, adaptability to the work environment, and problem solving.

Prerequisite: Completion of all required course work for the Computer Information Systems Programming Specialist Option and Advisor Approval May substitute: (CIS 2128 or CIS 2161) and ( CIS 1115 or CIS 2291) The student will work as a computer programmer with a participating company as approved by the advisor. The purpose is for the student to gain experience as an entry-level programmer in developing and maintaining programs related to business applications. Orientation will be held in the classroom prior to the required contact hours with the participating company.

Prerequisite: Completion of all required course work for the Computer Information Systems Computer Support Specialist Option and Advisor Approval May substitute: (CIS 286) and ( CIS 2149 or CIS 2321 or CIS 2554) The student will work as a computer support specialist with a participating company as approved by the advisor. The purpose is for the student to gain experience as an entry-level computer support specialist in maintaining computer hardware and software related to business applications. Orientation will be held in the classroom prior to the required contact hours with the participating company.

Prerequisite: Completion of all required course work for the Computer Information Systems Networking Specialist Option and Advisor Approval May substitute: (CIS 286) and ( CIS 1115 or CIS 2291 or CIS 1114) The student will be required to work as a networking specialist with a participating company as approved by the advisor. The purpose is for the student to gain experience as an entry-level LAN/WAN technician through the maintenance, installation, and design of an organization's network infrastructure. Orientation will be held in the classroom prior to the required contact hours with the participating company.

Prerequisite: Completion of all required course work for the Computer Information Systems Database Specialist Option and Advisor Approval May substitute: (CIS 113 or CIS 252 or CIS 255 or CIS 1121) and ( CIS 1115 or CIS 2291) The student will be required to work as a database specialist with a participating company as approved by the advisor. The purpose is for the student to gain experience as an entry-level database programmer in developing and maintaining databases related to business applications. Orientation will be held in the classroom prior to the required contact hours with the participating company.

Prerequisite: Program Admission Provides learners with an overview of the functional and structural composition of warehousing and distribution centers. Topics include product flow, warehousing processes, working safely in a warehousing environment, principles in running a business, workplace ethics and how employees affect the bottom line.
