Designed for beginning through intermediate snowboarders, this course provides practical skills and information on resource and facility management, ski/snowboard history, and techniques. Prerequisites: Not enrolled in a high school program

Classroom and on-hill clinics for prospective ski instructors. Learn skills and knowledge necessary to teach downhill skiing. Includes study of recreation management issues associated with skiing, and practical teaching experience. Not enrolled in a high school program.

Through class and field sessions, students examine resource management issues, and learn specific skills related to commercial guiding of backcountry skiers. Includes safety, consumerism, and Leave-No-Trace skills. Not enrolled in a high school program.

Practical skills for travel over mountain snow, avalanche causes, snow stability, decision making, terrain selection, and companion rescue. Level 1 certificate upon completion of course. No camping required. Active in a high school program.

Class will focus on snowpack, analysis of stability, decision making, snowpack metamorphosis (change), terrain features, safe travel, human factors and rescue scenarios. This is Level II of a two part avalanche sequence. No camping required. Prerequisites: "CR" grade in PRTS 2007 OR Instructor Consent AND not enrolled in a high school program.

This class covers the standards published by the American Avalanche Association for Avalanche Rescue Courses, including (a) avalanche rescue principles, (b) avalanche gear and technique, (c) companion rescue process, (d) avalanche victim basic patient care, and (e) recognizing needs and identifying additional resources. Not enrolled in a high school program.

Basics of canoeing, beginning whitewater, water safety, and canoe camping in the context of recreation management issues associated with those activities. Resource and user conflicts, geology, ecology, history, and wildlife. Overnight camping. Not enrolled in a high school program.

The basics of lake canoeing are covered. Students will explore resource and user conflicts, wilderness ethics, geology, ecology, and land-management issues. Overnight camping. Not enrolled in a high school program.

Students explore Uinta Mountains backcountry, acquire the skills of backpacking, learn hazard management, increase lifetime leisure skills, learn and practice leave no trace concepts, study techniques relevant to mixed wilderness travel (water and land), explore the role of the US Forest Service in managing public lands, and practice land and water navigation skills. Not enrolled in a high school program.

Students will finish this course with the ability to demonstrate competency in fundamental paddleboarding skills including, stance and balance, paddle techniques, and associated water risk management skills. This will be accomplished through discussions, demonstrations, and practical, activity-based learning. Additionally, students will demonstrate basic camping skills and an increased understanding of issues related to the administration of state and federally-managed public lakes, reservoirs, and rivers such as those use din this class, as they relate to recreation and other uses. Not enrolled in a high school program.
