The application of this course is designed to acquaint the student with the fundamental techniques involved in gross anatomic dissection as well as necropsy procedures using virtual and cadaver models. This laboratory will correlate with lecture material learned in Animal Anatomy VETE 105 and will help to visualize these concepts. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 1103 and VETE 1205. Lab fee: $30.

This course is designed to acquaint the student with basic nursing skills, including restraint, history taking, examination-room etiquette, client interactions, sterilization and disinfection procedures, and administration of medications. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program and veterinary facility employment or voluntary participation in a full service practice/hospital/clinic approved by the Program Director.

This course will teach the fundamentals of animal anatomy for domestic species with emphasis on locating and identifying bone, muscle, organ systems, anatomical regions and landmarks using specific terminologies and descriptors. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program.

Continuation of Physiology I adding in-depth knowledge to mechanical, physical, and biochemical processes of different animal species. Content covers specific function, metabolic and digestive processes of ruminants, non-ruminant monogastric and monogastric species.

The scientific study of animal agriculture involving beef cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and horses. Subjects covered will include management practices involving reproduction, nutrition, health, handling, genetic selection, and shelter. Marketing strategies and procedures. Credit for both AGRI 1319 and VETE 1307 will not be awarded. Lab fee $13.

This course develops the concepts of pharmacology essential in understanding the advanced clinical courses of the baccalaureate program. The student technologist will learn both the scientific fundamentals and the practical applications of pharmacology. Pre-requisite: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program

This course is designed to acquaint the student with basic skills in medical nursing, administration of medications, nutrition and feeding, parasitology, and pathology. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 1111.

This course is designed to provide the student with fundamental knowledge of the common diseases affecting companion animals. Students will learn the basics of recognizing diseases. Clinical signs, diagnostic tests and appropriate client education will be highlighted. The course will emphasize dogs and cats, but will also include other companion/exotic species including birds, ferrets and rodents. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in Veterinay Technology Program, VETE 1103, VETE 1307, VETE 1208.

A continuation of VETE 2103, this course will explore the most commonly used classes of drugs, the applications to each body system and the record keeping responsibilities involved in handling and prescribing medications, including controlled substances. Therapy, kinetics, dynamics and efficacy of different drug compounds will be explored. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 2103.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and competency in companion animals to administer vaccinations, immunological profiles, physical therapies, and disease prevention measures. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 1111, VETE 2111.
