This course deals with the technical and regulatory aspects of handling and disposing of toxic and hazardous wastes based on recently mandated legislation procedures. This course will educate current students in an area that is of major national concern and will update persons already working in the field of environmental science. Spring. This course provides the student with direct professional work experience with industry or governmental entity. Academic credit is based on a written technical report and an oral presentation. This course examines the relationship between language and literacy acquisition of English language learners. Candidates in the EC- 6 certification program learn research-based best practices relating to language and literacy acquisition and apply them to linguistically diverse learners in the public school classroom. Attention is given to second language literacy approaches and strategies in early childhood through sixth grade. Concurrent enrollment in RDG 370, RDG 380 and RDG 390. Prerequisites: BSL 236, 333.
