Primary focus is on the role of financial manager and the tools used in making investing and financing decision in order to maximize the value of the firm Areas examined include profit planning, risk of a portfolio, capital budgeting techniques, time value of money, management of short-term and long-term funds, cost of capital, optimal capital structure and liquidity versus profitability. Prerequisites: ACCT 2001, ACCT 2302, ECON 2301, and ECON 2302

This is a required course for freshmen and transfer students with 15 hours or less. The course is designed to help the students become exposed to essential skills and information necessary for successful matriculate at Paul Quinn College. The course is designed to reflect a broad number of topics that will enhance successful student outcomes and retention. The format for the course will include explanatory presentations, discussions, computer assisted instruction, collaborative grouping and other meaningful presentations models. It is designed to help the student create greater success in college and in life. The student will learn many proven strategies for creating greater academic, professional, and personal success through various approaches such as guided journaling and reflective writings will be used to explore these strategies. The student will be engaged in learning community cohorts and service learning integration as an integral part of the course. The course will be taught in two parts or blocks in the fall and spring.

This is a continuance of Foundations of Learning I (FUND 1101) required course for freshmen and transfer students with 15 hours or less. The course is designed to help the advance skills and information necessary for successful matriculate at Paul Quinn College. The course is designed expand on a broad number of topics that will enhance successful student outcomes and retention. It is designed to help the student create greater success in college and in life. The student will learn additional strategies for creating greater academic, professional, and personal success through various approaches such as guided journaling and reflective writings will be used to help develop these strategies.
