Begins with fundamental elements of music, including music reading, basic concepts of elementary music theory (melody, rhythm, harmony), chord structure, harmonization, ensemble playing and improvisation. Class taught in state-ofthe- art piano lab, using digital keyboards, sequencers and computers. (SCANS 1, 5, 6, 8) Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor.

Studies include fundamental vocal techniques and choral literature representing many styles and composers from all periods of music. Participation in all performances expected. (SCANS 1, 5, 10, 11) Prerequisite: Admission by audition with acceptance based on musical ability and voice quality.
