Begins with fundamental elements of music, including music reading, basic concepts of elementary music theory (melody, rhythm, harmony), chord structure, harmonization, ensemble playing and improvisation. Class taught in state-ofthe- art piano lab, using digital keyboards, sequencers and computers. (SCANS 1, 5, 6, 8) Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor.

Studies include fundamental vocal techniques and choral literature representing many styles and composers from all periods of music. Participation in all performances expected.
