1 hour each Courses for music majors designed to develop basic skills related to playing the piano through both class and individual participation. Begins with fundamental elements of music, including music reading, basic concepts of elementary music theory (melody, rhythm, harmony), chord structure, harmonization, ensemble playing and improvisation. Class taught in state-ofthe- art piano lab, using digital keyboards, sequencers and computers. (SCANS 1, 5, 6, 8) Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor.
