Strategies for providing ideas and training to a variety of library media users of library and media resources are suggested. Create an organized, accessible environment that facilitates access and stimulates use of library resources and is conducive to learning. Students plan collection development to accommodate the needs of users, evaluate both internal holdings and external resources to select appropriate rosources, explore library classification systems and cataloging resources, evaluate automation resources and systems, and gain knowledge of community and global resources. This course addresses state competencies IIA, IIIB, IIIC, IIIIE, IIIF, IIIG in the category of collection management and organization.

Consists of work experience in library environments under the guidance of a practicing professional library information specialist. The course is to be taken by students who are licensed as teachers or who do not seek licensure.
