Continues with the third in a series of clinical experiences providing supervised direct patient contact in appropriate patient care facilities in and out of hospitals. Includes but not limited to patient care units such as the Emergency Department, Critical Care units, Pediatric, Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, Trauma Centers and various advanced life support units. Laboratory 6 hours per week.

The fourth in a series of clinical experiences providing supervised direct patient contact in appropriate patient care facilities in and out of hospitals. Includes but not limited to patient care units such as the Emergency Department, Critical Care units, Pediatric, Labor and Delivery, Operating Room and Trauma Centers. May be repeated as necessary. Laboratory 6 hours per week.

Prepares students to interpret 12 lead electrocardiograms and recognize acute myocardial injury as well as infarct imitators. Includes lead placement, collection of the 12 lead ECG, review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, electrical conduction through the heart, common dysrhythmias, pathophysiology of AMI and infarct imitators. Includes field treatment of the acute coronary syndrome. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Helps students discover and develop writing processes needed to bring their proficiency toward the level necessary for entrance into their respective curricula. Guides students through the process of starting, composing, revising, and editing. Promotes organization, perseverance, and adaptability through the keeping of a notebook, daily writing, the meeting of set and flexible due dates, and satisfactory completion of multiple projects. Includes reading. Helps students learn to use conventions of written American English. Credits not applicable toward graduation.

Further develops ability to write and read effectively for study, work, and other areas of life. Guides students in reading technical material and in composing technical reports and other such documents for various purposes and audiences. Emphasizes the study of cases. Includes sample writings, library research, documentation, formatting, and graphics. Supports writing and reading by integrating experiences in thinking, listening, and speaking. Stresses thoughtful exploration, revision, and editing. Fosters individual voice and style. Aids students in learning to employ conventions of written American English. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: ENG 111 or division approval.

Surveys the history of children's literature, considers learning theory and developmental factors influencing reading interests, and uses bibliographic tools in selecting books and materials for recreational interests and educational needs of children. Lecture 3 hours per week.

Helps students refine skills in writing non-fiction prose. Guides development of individual voice and style. Introduces procedure for publication. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: ENG 112 or division approval.

Introduces the student to the fundamentals of writing imaginatively. Students write in forms to be selected from poetry, fiction, drama, and essays. Lecture 3 hours per week. Prerequisite: ENG 112 or division approval.
