Topics include eruption triggering mechanisms, lava flow formation, pyroclastic flow formation, lahars, volcanic gas, volcanic hazards, and case students of recent eruptions. Topics include crystallography, crystal chemistry and physics, rock and mineral hand specimen identification, optical properties of minerals, and the classification of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.
