This course is designed to provide Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Task Force personnel with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Task Force Safety Officer (TFSO) on a US&R task force. This course is 25 hours of face-to-face training. Course Topics include: Risk Management, Roles and Responsibilities of the US&R Task Force Safety Officer, Normalization of Deviance, Risk Factors, Hazard Mitigation, Risk Reduction, Real World Scenarios. Prerequisite: Prior to attending this face-to- face training students must successfully complete the Computer-Based Training (CBT) portion of this course that is approximately 5 hours. This course will cover the NFPA 1670 competencies at the technician level for trench excavation and collapse. Topics include: scene size up, hazard recognition and control, soil classification, support operations, shoring of non intersecting and intersecting trenches, installation of supplemental sheeting and shoring, heavy equipment coordination, patient management and termination procedures. Prerequisites: Trench Rescue Awareness Minimum age of student on first day of class: 18

This course is designed to orient the new or aspiring company officer to the responsibilities of the position and to provide them with an orientation to the process of managing the first 10 minutes of an incident pending the arrival of an experienced line officer.

This course is designed to prepare fire department personnel for implementation of a stand-by rescue team at structure fires and certain other incidents.

This course is designed to build on the concepts covered in Rapid Intervention Teams I that will give students the knowledge, skills and abilities to deal with more complex situations involving rapid intervention team operations. Prerequisites: Interior Fire Fighter or Fire Fighter I Cert Minimum age of students on first day of class 18.

This 4 hour course is an awareness level program that defines trench, the hazards associated with trenches, common misconceptions about trenches and the dynamics of earth movement. Studies will be provided with a systems approach in dealing with trench incidents prior to the arrival of technical specialists. Minimum age of student on the first day of class: 14

Fires that occur below grade, most often in basements or cellars, are extremely dangerous situations for firefighters. This course allows firefighters to practice recognized techniques for combating fires in common basements. Topics include: hose line selection, hose line advancement techniques, water flow requirements, moving in, innovative firefighting techniques, and the use of special nozzles. Emphasis is placed on safety for both interior and exterior operations. Students will need to bring full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus. No facial hair that will interfere with the seal of the SCBA face piece will be allowed. Students must wear long pants and long sleeved shirts during all live-fire exercises

The Fire Academy with EMT provides theory and practical application of the fire fighter skills that exceed the instructional objectives of the NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I and II training standards. Update to include new EMT-Basic DOH training standards.

This 48 hour course is designed to provide current and aspiring officers and officer candidates from career, volunteer, federal and combination fire service organizations with an educationally sound, objective based course of instruction based on NFPA 1021- Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4 2009 Edition. Prerequisites: Firefighter II (IFSAC or Pro-Board), Fire Instructor I, current Hazardous Materials Operations Certification (IFSAC or Pro Board) or yearly training and ICS 200-Basic ICS (or equivalent). Students must attend 100 percent of the sessions and submit all homework assignments on time to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.
