This course presents the generational composition of the United States workforce and covers the four generations actively employed - Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z ??? through labor demographics and generational statistics, as well as other statistics to analyze these groups. Key communication styles, relationship-building techniques and various practices used to reach individuals within these generations are covered to help managers supervise across generations.     This 8-week course focuses on developing a foundational knowledge of medical cannabis, the medical cannabis industry, and exploring careers opportunities, as well as skills and abilities that are required to work in the industry. Instruction and resources are provided from experts within the medical cannabis industry in a blended format. This includes several weekly remote presentations and discussions via Zoom, as well as asynchronous (independent) assignments and learning activities that are completed online. This course is designed to provide students with a well-rounded introduction that includes the history and use of cannabis, as well as the plant botany, medical applications, legal and regulatory considerations, the patient journey, and related aspects of the industry, such as CBD and hemp. In addition, this course explores infrastructure features currently trending, such as in-house security, research and development, and marketing. Guest speakers from national cannabis organizations will be joining throughout the course to cover topic highlights and real-life employment expectations. In the final class sessions, topics center upon workplace traits and skills necessary for employment within the medical cannabis industry.

    This 6-week course provides students with content and instruction to develop core skillsets and abilities that act as a foundation for success in any workplace. These core skills can include, but are not limited to, expected workplace habits and professional interactions, ownership of tasks, and proficiency in common IT programs (MS Office), email, or related technology. Other soft skills presented include communication skills, motivation or engagement, interpersonal communications, and more specifically conflict resolution. The course content is further enhanced through discussions on the holistic development of healthy and effective behaviors that, when used in combination with the core skills presented, promote adaptability, communication, creative thinking and engagement with others. This course includes weekly (T/TH) remote presentations and discussions via Zoom, as well as asynchronous (independent) assignments and learning activities that are completed online. Course elements are presented in a blended format to include twelve (12) remote instruction sessions, learning checks discussions, and a final project.
