Firefighters, EMS providers, 911 Dispatchers, and Law Enforcement professionals all help to save lives every day. These amazing people are known as First Responders. Join us as we explore their worlds during this highly interactive and thrilling camp were students will learn the day-to-day operations of fire prevention, law enforcement, and emergency medical services. Students will spend time with these First Responder professionals and learn hands-on what is takes to do their jobs on a daily basis.

Covers information that defines and recognizes a critical incident and proper reactions that operate in the interest of preserving the health of the officer and of their family. Participants explore the impact a critical incident may have on an officers life, identify the acute and delayed reactions to critical stress, recognize the potential for Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, review confidentiality, legal and denial concerns of an officer that may inhibit their ability to handle a critical incident, identify support activities that may serve to mitigate the negative effects from a critical incident, and review key concerns in preparing critical incident reports. Students must have completed the Commission's Basic Firearm's Training Program. This course is not taught by HACC.

Explores the value and benefits of a positive Mindset for the safety and survival of Probation and Parole Officers in dangerous circumstances. This course also reviews the basic principles of marksmanship and weapon handling skills, provides instruction in tactical movement to cover and concealment as well as immediate actions to clear malfunctioning handguns. Students must successfully complete the Commission???s Basic Firearms Training Program. This course is not taught by HACC.

Explores one-handed clearing and re-loading techniques and a ??no quit?? attitude for the safety and survival of Probation and Parole Officers in the performance of their duties. This course discusses basic legal issues involved with the use of force, as well as the stresses surrounding injury by a suspect or offender. Students must successfully complete the County Probation & Parole Officers' Firearm Education and Training Commission Basic Firearms Training Program. (HACC does not teach this course) and FETC Course 3 (Officer Survival Mindset, Cover and Concealment, and Immediate Action Drills).

Prepares Parole Officers for real world situations as well validate /invalidate current training. The training covers officer safety issues related to use of force decision-making, building approaches, door approaches, entries, tactics, team movement, and the proper use of safety equipment.

Affords Probation/Parole Officers the opportunity to engage in a series of deadly force situation simulations with complete safety, utilizing a computer projection system. Emphasis is placed on the appropriate use of force decision/action along with the appropriate tactical considerations. Class discussion and review of Court decisions relating to the use of deadly force, is conducted. The pre-requisite for participation in this advanced training course is successful completion of the Commission???s Basic Firearms Training Program (HACC does not teach this course) and either Officer Survival Mindset, Cover and Concealment, and Immediate Action Drills (FETC Course 3) or Force Response Training (FETC) Course 5.

Further explores the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship by incorporating drills and techniques to enhance an officer???s ability to deliver an accurate shot(s) during a deadly force encounter. The pre-requisite for participation in this advanced training course is successful completion of the Commission???s Basic Firearms Training Program. HACC does not teach this course.

Instructs students in the theory and practice of adult education in order to prepare them to effectively instruct law enforcement officers. Students are taught the theories of adult learning, instructor attributes and ethics, class environment demeanor, effective learning objective writing, and selection/preparation of course materials e.g. such as lesson plans and supporting job aids). Students prepare and deliver several lessons on for evaluation.

Provides a civilian handgun owner with basic owner with basic knowledge regarding the laws of Pennsylvania pertaining to handgun ownership, use and liability. This 2-hour online course is highly recommend for any civilian who intends on possessing a handgun for self-protection. In addition, this course is appropriate for yearly attendance??as the material is reviewed and updated each November with planned updates released in January of the new year.
