This introductory course includes instruction in water pollution control, preliminary and primary treatment, fixed film processes, and suspended growth systems. Along with reading assignments from the text the course is enhanced with up-to-date photographs, audio, interactive exercises, and online links. This course meets the requirements of EPA and the Association of Boards of Certification and Office of Water Programs. The course is designed to enhance the home-study manual, "Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants," to (1) develop qualified treatment plant operators; (2) expand the abilities of existing operators; (3) help prepare operators for Certification Examination. This course is approved by the NY DEC for re-certification credit. This course concludes with an optional field trip which is followed by an online final exam which must be proctored. One textbook is also also required.
