Students will explore the concepts, principles and techniques, supplemented by hands-on exercises, for attacking and disabling a network. The course presents these methodologies within the context of properly securing the network. It emphasizes network attack methodologies with the use of network attack techniques and tools, and helps students prepare for the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification.     Prerequisite: ITIS 1360 or permission of instructor This course provides students with practical experience in the use of additional computer forensic tools, including those used for disaster recovery, and encryption or decryption of evidence data. Students will receive instruction in other investigative and analytical strategies used in a computer forensics laboratory. Students will work with various scenarios to gain experience in investigation of systems and networks and in appropriate presentation of findings. (5 contact hours: 1 lecture, 4 lab)

It presents network and information security technology in the context of large infrastructures and the specific management principles required to provide services that offer confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Topics include strategies to assist students in identifying the information technology needs of the organization, designing a network, access control, security architectures, business continuity planning, security policies, ethics, and operations security. Students will use application software to design, create, implement, document, and present automated programs to enhance a business information system.
