Prerequisites: AP 211 and AP 221 or (for one-year AAS students) AP 107, AP 108, and AR 113 Co-requisites: AR 273 and (for two-year AAS students) AP 272 Learn how intimate apparel is designed, merchandised, and manufactured. Produce original sleepwear, loungewear, and robe designs through draping and flat pattern methods using the fabrication and construction techniques appropriate to the intimate apparel market. Work with an intimate apparel designer from the industry to develop designs and prepare final garments for a student exhibit.

Prerequisites: AP 211 or DP 212, and AP 243 and AP 244 Apply knowledge of the couture to design, drape, fit, and construct a mini collection for a particular target market. Develop styles and images through fabric sourcing, market research, and inspirational research.

Includes analytical study of the development of children from infants to preteens and emphasis on production techniques and special industrial machines.

Prerequisite: AP 221 or approval of chairperson Co-requisites: AP 276 and AR 276 Create and develop original design ideas for boy's wear. Includes the study of the relationship of boy's wear to menswear. Emphasis is on volume production techniques and special industrial machines.

Prerequisite: AP 111 or AP 141 or AP 143 or DP 111 or TL 111 or approval of chairperson Through the study of 17th-, 18th-, and 19th-century corsetry, learn how the body is manipulated in order to create a fashion silhouette. Further study through in-store market research provides analysis of the differences between corsetry and traditional draping. Develop technical patterns and use traditional construction techniques to create a period corset.

Prerequisites: AP 144, TS 171, and AP 211 or AP 221 or DP 211 or MW 132 Drawing on market research and trend services, students create original men's and women's traditional, urban, or casual outerwear designs with a focus on the technical, functional, and aesthetic needs of the end user.

Prerequisites: AP 144, TS 171, and AP 211 or AP 221 or DP 211 or MW 132 Students create performance apparel based on the principles of human physiology in extreme movement and building on the technical and aesthetic needs of the serious outdoor sports enthusiast. Market research is conducted and forecast services are employed to develop designs.

Prerequisites: AP 211 and AR 111 Techniques and principles of fashion design are applied to the special demands of costuming for the theatre, emphasizing the need for durability while creating the appropriate visual image. The day-to-day problems of assembling a show are explored.

Prerequisites: AP 211 and AP 221 or approval of instructor Explore the design and construction issues specific to this growing area of the women's industry. Consider customer analysis, size interpretation, line development, and fashion forecasting. Develop patterns for the women's size figure and create original sportswear designs.
