    6 credits In this course, teacher candidates will reflect upon and synthesize experiences in student teaching. Topics include the inclusion of students with diverse needs in general education classrooms, multiculturalism, New York State Learning Standards, curricular and instructional issues, school structure, and professional collaboration.     3 credits This course is intended for students who seek dual certification in childhood (grades 1-6), middle childhood (grades 5-9), adolescence (grades 7-12), and special education. Teacher candidates gain experience with special education, preferably in a classroom that integrates children with various abilities and disabilities. Students are evaluated Pass/Fail. Prerequisites: EDU 3110N, EDU 3186N, EDU 4149N, and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Corequisite: EDU 4190N. Offered: 2008 - 2010.

    3 credits This is a seminar in which there is disciplined reflection and critical analysis of the students' teaching experience in EDU 4196N. Student teachers also focus on solving classroom problems that stem from teaching diverse student populations, including gifted and talented, students with disabilities, and from various socio-economic and cultural environ ments. Prerequisites: EDU 1021A, EDU 1081A, EDU 1140A or SMP 1032A, EDU 3127N, EDU 3128N, EDU 3146N, EDU 4150A, (EDU 1160A and EDU 4149N, if seeking middle childhood certification); LIB 1101N; PSY 2016A; a minimum of 30 credits in content area; 6 credits of foreign language; and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.     3 credits Student teachers attend a subject specific seminar that focuses on pedagogy for the special subject in which certification is taught - middle childhood or adolescent grades. Focus is on requirements and effective strategies for teaching knowledge of the Learning Standards in the specific subject at the intermediate and commencement levels. Instructional methods and practice teaching skills are linked to content. Methods for self-assessment and improvement in both content and pedagogy are emphasized. Prerequisites: EDU 1021A, EDU 1081A, EDU 1140A or SMP 1032A, EDU 3127N, EDU 3128N, EDU 3146N, EDU 4150A, (EDU 1160A and EDU 4149N, if seeking middle childhood certification); LIB 1101N; PSY 2016A; a minimum of 30 credits in content area; 6 credits of foreign lan guage; and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.     3 credits Students are required to follow a full-time teaching schedule at one grade level (5-9 in the Middle Childhood program or 7-12 in the Adolescence program), five days per week for a full fifteen week semester (over 500 hours). Students are evaluated Pass/Fail dependent on mastery of the teaching skills in specialized content areas that enable middle childhood and adolescent students to master knowledge required in the New York State Learning Standards for intermediate and commencement levels. Prerequisites: EDU 1021A, EDU 1081A, EDU 1140A or SMP 1032A, EDU 3127N, EDU 3128N, EDU 3146N, EDU 4150A, (EDU 1160A and EDU 4149N, if seeking middle childhood certification); LIB 1101N; PSY 2016A; a minimum of 30 credits in content area; 6 credits of foreign language; and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Corequisites: EDU 4194N, EDU 4195N. Offered: 2008 - 2010.

    6 credits Students are required to follow a full-time teaching schedule in a State approved private or a public elementary school five days per week for 15 weeks (over 500 hours) at one of two levels: Grades 1-3 or Grades 4-6. Students are evaluated Pass/Fail dependent on mastery and demonstra tion of criteria set forth in the elementary education program and the New York Teaching Standards. Prerequisites: EDU 4113N, EDU 4114N, EDU 4115N, EDU 4149N, and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Corequisite: EDU 4199. Offered: 2008 - 2010.

    3 credits Theory and practice are brought together to enable students to man age classrooms effectively, plan for individual needs, and design instruc tional programs which integrate the seven areas of general knowledge in the State Learning Standards. Students develop competencies associated with new roles for teachers in the 21st century, and demonstrate analyti cal, critical, and reflective thinking skills as a foundation for continued professional development. Prerequisites: EDU 4113N, EDU 4114N, EDU 4115N, EDU 4149N; and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Corequisite: EDU 4197N. Offered: 2008 - 2010.

    6 credits Students are required to follow a full-time teaching schedule in a State approved private or a public school setting five days per week for 15 weeks (over 500 hours) at two levels: Pre-kindergarten/Kindergarten and Grades 1-2. The first setting will cover the first seven weeks of the semester. The second setting will cover the last eight weeks of the semester. Students are evaluated Pass/Fail dependent on mastery and demonstration of criteria set forth in the early childhood education program and the New York Teaching Standards. Prerequisites: EDU 4106N, EDU 4160N, EDU 4162N, EDU 4149N, minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 and the student teaching placement card. Corequisite: EDU 4201N. Offered: 2008 - 2010.
