MA 431: Introduction to Probability
3.00 Credits
Athens State University
3 Semester Hours. Prerequisite: MA 304 Calculus II. This is a calculus based introduction to probability that studies the development and analysis of probability models through the basic concepts of sample spaces, random variables, probability distributions (including distribu- tions for discrete functions like the Binomial, Hypergeometric, and Poisson, etc., and distributions for continuous functions like the Normal, Exponential, Gamma, Chi-Squared, t-distribution, and F-distribution, etc.). The course will also cover expected values of random variables, conditional probabilities, moment generating functions, and the Central Limit Theorem.
