Business 3 Credits This course covers the entire process of mergers and acquisitions, from evaluating potential targets and partners, to selecting a financial advisor and valuing the business under discussion. A broad spectrum of contemporary mergers and acquisitions topics will be discussed, including valuation, bidding strategies, structuring payments, junk bonds, and special issues surrounding cross-border acquisitions. In addition, a wide range of concepts from diverse fields, such as accounting, finance, economics, law, management, human resources, and marketing will be applied through the use of case studies. Business 15 Credits Senior business students work nearly full time in a professional setting off campus in paid jobs that are entry level in their field, giving them a jump on the employment market or on starting their own future businesses. During their co-op semester, students work 32 hours a week for 13 consecutive weeks in work experiences that are carefully selected to provide appropriate learning environments and productive, relevant work. Through this course, students work with a faculty mentor who helps them to make critical connections between the knowledge they have learned in their many academic classes with the real-world reality of work in the field, effectively linking theory with practice. Business 3 Credits This course is the equivalent to part one of two capstone courses for business majors. It is structured in a modular format and part of the Senior Year Experience developed for all of Bay Path College’s business undergraduates. The purpose of this course is to enable the student to integrate the lessons learned in her previous business, accounting, and management courses through the intensive use of case studies analyzed from the general manager’s point of view. The focus is on decision making at all management levels in the formulation of strategy and its implementation throughout the organization. The student is challenged to build interrelationships among the areas of production, finance, marketing, accounting, and human relations.
